USTA St. Louis National Tennis Month Recap
May was National Tennis Month, and here are some of the fun events USTA St. Louis hosted to celebrate:
May 4: Saturday Wheelchair Tennis Days
Chesterfield Athletic Club hosted Wheelchair Tennis Days on Saturdays this month.
May 6: Black Tennis Heroes event with the East St. Louis Community Tennis Association
This event provided fourth-grade students with tennis racquets, tennis balls and activity coloring books. The coloring books featured the 25 most influential black tennis figures for students to read about.
The City of East St. Louis presented a declaration of National Tennis Month at Dunbar Elementary School. It was read by East St. Louis City Manager Robert Betts. You can find this proclamation and more by clicking here.
May 10-12: Adult L4 at St Clair Tennis
In O’Fallon, Ill., St Clair Tennis hosted a historic Level 4 adult tournament featuring many USTA Missouri Valley players from across the section.
May 16-18: State Championships
The 2024 Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Boys’ Tennis State Championships took place at Springfield’s Cooper Tennis Complex this May, and several local teams and individuals had standout showings. Read more about how USTA St. Louis teams and players performed here.
May 20-28: NCAA Division III Tennis Championships
Both the Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division III Tennis Championships were held at Dwight Davis Tennis Center. Read an article on the DIII and DI championships both taking place within the UTSA Missouri Valley here.
May 21: BreakPoint Summer Tennis Party
BreakPoint Tennis & Life Skills Academy hosted a summer tennis party for National Tennis Month.
