Gauff, Anisimova, Pegula, Keys qualify for 2025 WTA Finals in historic U.S. feat
Four American singles players have qualified for the WTA Finals for the first time since 2003.
Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, Jessica Pegula and Madison Keys have all clinched spots at the season finale in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the Americans occupying places three through six, respectively, in the 2025 Race to the WTA Finals. Pegula was the last to secure her berth after a run to the final at last week's Wuhan WTA 1000, where she lost to Gauff in the title round.

In 2003, Jennifer Capriati, Serena Williams, Lindsay Davenport and Venus Williams all qualified for the WTA Finals held in Los Angeles, but only Capriati and American alternate Chanda Rubin competed as the other three withdrew due to injury.
The last time four American singles players competed in the season finale was in 2002, also in Los Angeles, when Serena, Venus and Capriati were the top three seeds and Monica Seles was the seeded sixth. The 2002 event was the last to feature a 16-player field in a traditional bracket draw; from 2003, the event moved to an eight-player field with two round-robin groups.
Beginning with the 2022 event in Fort Worth, Texas, Gauff and Pegula have represented the U.S. each year at the prestigious singles event. Pegula was a finalist in Cancun in 2023, while Gauff won the title last year in Riyadh.
Anisimova, who reached her first Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open this year, is set for her WTA Finals debut, while Keys returns to the year-end event nine years after her 2016 debut.
